Points to remember:

  • No contractions (e.g. I'm) in formal letters.
  • Tenses - past simple for specific times/events in the past, present perfect for experiences, when time not mentioned or unimportant, when event still has an affect in the present.
  • Suffixes - especially for verb forms e.g. apply not applicate. 
  • Verb patterns provide someone with something, tell someone something, say something to someone, suggest something, suggest (that) someone does something, suggest doing something. 
  • Countable and uncountable nouns
