Hi Teacher Sean, how goes it ?

As reported in the text :..."despite a massive increase in oil cargos.."

my question :

Shouldn't the plural of the noun cargo be cargoes instead of cargos as written in the text ??

Pleased to hear.

Cheers,

Luigi Genghi

Hi Luigi,
Thanks for your comment. Like you, I would naturally spell the plural of cargo with 'es' but most dictionaries note that both spellings are possible. In which case, choose the one you prefer and be consistent.

Take care and see you on Wednesday.

Hi Sean!
I absolutely agree with the aim of creating a over-nation network for environmental saving in the shipping world.

It is really time to act instead of yakety-yak without effective goals.

We are discussing not only about a market industry, but regarding the health and the future of our planet.

Increase technology, finacing and regulation is the key to success in greening this world!

Dear Sean,
I totally agree with the idea expressed in the article; in particular, I think the biggest challenge is to achieve global cooperation in the world of shipping to ensure that the new technology plays a role in greening the world of shipping: "Going it alone will only ever get the industry so far" H.G.
Probably the best way to start is the creation of a common regulatory framework! But I'm sure it's harder than it seems!
See you Tomorrow, have a good day!

I aboslutely agree with the article.
It is time to contribute actively to the protection of the environment and it is important that the shipping industry works together in order to reach the same goal. However I ask myself would the shipping industry have been motivated in thsi direction if the IMO didn't set these standards?

I agree with the article and with you guys 100 percent!
The most important point, if you want my honest opinion, is to promote regulation and create globally agreed rules.
All of us should fly the flag for green tech and all companies should work in a more environmentally conscious direction. d'Amico as well as Maersk launched a programme of new buildings with the objective
of renewing the fleet which will be made more efficient, aiming at
a considerable lowering of fuel consumption and gas emissions...I believe that the biggest industries have a vital role helping create a sustainable future,a low-carbon economy.
How do you feel about that?
See you tomorrow...

I totally agree with the article as well and I think that the efforts in greening the shipping industry are not only a simple slogan: what's happening in our company, for example, is the proof what I've just said.
New Eco vessels are just delivered and further ones are going to be delivered in the next years.
Shipping's leading players really felt the sea as "something " to protect in a whole, not only for their business, but for actively contibute in a sustainable "green" future development.
Technological innovations in the shipping insdustry are to the service of the sea, his care, and not to the service of the Men and his business.
