  • Introduction to tenses:

Find and correct the mistakes in the following emails:

  1. Dear Sean, today I don't come to the lesson because I go home for the holiday.
  2. Dear Sir, I write about the summer Law course. I look on the website but I don't find the information.
What is the difference in meaning between the following pairs of sentences? What does it tell you about the present simple and the present continuous? (n.b. both sentences are correct but they convy different information)

  1. What do you do?  What are you doing?
  2. You are very nice. You are being very nice.
  3. He always comes to class late. He is always coming to class late.
  4. The train leaves in 5 minutes. The train is leaving in 5 minutes!

  3. Self Study: Pronunciation of regular past tense endings. When do we use /d/, /t/ and /id/?
