Business Plan Presentations - Speaking Assessment.
Well done everyone all the presentations were of a very high standard, well researched and demonstrated an excellent use of appropriate vocabulary. If you had problems today, you probably need to look back at your planning. Were your aims clear? Was your structure clear and logical? Did you use enough signposting language? If you think you can do better and would like another "stab at it", come and see me to arrange a time.
Areas to work on
- Noun Forms (suffixes, compound nouns)
- Signposting Language (learn and use the formulas rather than make up your own)
- Collocation
- Have - when it is a main verb and when it is an auxiliary - check negatives and questions!
- Prepositions (learn in chunks e.g. verb phrases)
- Pronunciation (vowel sounds, silent letters, word endings)
Tenses is another area to work on as sometimes the tense choice in the presentations was quite limited. E.G. As you can see in the graph, our company loses 10% this year. Here the present perfect (has lost) would be better.
Homework/Self Study
Write a paragraph (100 - 150 words) reflecting on today's experience. What went well? What could you improve? If you had to do it again, what would you change (practice the 2nd conditional here)? What feedback did you get from me and your peers and was it useful?
