3. Never begin a paragraph with it; No more than one key idea per paragraph; avoid sloppy words (e.g. interesting, problem), qualifiers (key, bad, unfortunately) or abstract nouns (punctuality, truancy).

1. Write up your set of journalistic guidelines (at least 8) - express each guideline clearly, including any exceptions, using a range of modal verbs.
2. In preparation for next week's writing assessment, read the article on new  media (p. 84 - 85)  and think about the questions 1 - 5.
